The U.S. Green Building Council's LEED website provides tools for building professionals.
A calendar of green building industry conferences LEED certification for buildings has to involve either new construction or a major renovation. If you're already in the building, and are not still in the construction/renovation process, LEED certification is not likely. However, simple improvements to existing structures can save still businesses money. | Indie Energy's geothermal technology earns U.S. Department of Energy funding |
| Indie Energy Systems Company, LLC announced today that it has been awarded funding by the U.S. Department of Energy for the continued development of the Company's smart geothermal technologies for commercial and public buildings. The $2.45 million grant will contribute to an innovative geothermal conversion of the Local 150 International Union of Operating Engineers office campus in Countryside, Illinois. |

| Climate Corps 2010: Shining a Light on Energy Savings |

| ICLEI USA Partners with Virginia Group to Foster Greener Cities |
ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability USA is teaming up with the Virginia Municipal League to promote greener communities through a contest to develop environmental policies and practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The partnership is one of several recent efforts across the country to accelerate development of more environmentally friendly communities.

| Standing Up for Green Building |
A mosque proposed near Ground Zero in New York has prompted great anger and may never be built. Sometimes you need to stand up to "mad" and other times you need to respect the sentiments behind the anger. This seems like one of those times to stand up to "mad" because if we don't, we become that which we abhor.

| Duke Energy Center, Iowa College Named the Smartest Buildings in U.S. |
Siemens Industry Inc. named the winners of its inaugural Smartest Building in America Challenge, while the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction, Metropolis Magazine and General Electric's Innovation Challenge renewed the call for entries in their competitions.
